Starting my summer off strong, I have already learned so much. During my internship I will be tackling and implementing three big projects: development, 6S, and quality. This week I was personally taught and shown hands on how to create plans to see these projects become successful.
I was given personalized lessons on audits, 6S, safety, SOPs, KPIs, CAR, and more. For instance, I’m learning how the 6S process improvement tool is implemented in a real company: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety. I’ve received training on standard operating procedures (SOPs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and other important processes. Graphic communications isn’t just about the designed product, but the processes that get us there, so it’s great to see how these work in the real world.
I was also given many Gemba Academy lessons and videos that have helped my ideas become real. Next week I will be doing “Around the World”. This concept lets me see the entire process from the operations aspect. I am excited to continue this internship along side such helpful coworkers!
